Group Presentation Group 2 Blog By Chanel Gonzalez

Cooperatively with 4 other of my group peers we designed and created a presentation based on the key elements on how to conduct and persuade an effective speech within any environment and to any audience. I have not one complain nor dislike from any of my team members. They were and are very respectful, professional, independent, and reliable. We all pushed each other whenever one felt lost. There was no room for judgment as we are worked together as a team to deliver the best message. Everyone returned their assigned part within a timely matter; therefore, allowing myself and, Bryan Mora our tech adequate time for editing.  The topics discussed by my group, and I varied from how to present and organize information to how to properly structure a speech and or presentation.

One of the aspects I enjoyed most about my presentation was whom I worked with. I can without a doubt say that my peers made it worth wild. I wouldn’t say that I loved doing my assigned section as I felt nervous and anxious overthinking in what others were going to think of my outcome; however, they were very interactive and outspoken in all aspects. We all worked together and collaboratively. I appreciated everyone’s input and involvement within the entire project. Although, I did have a slight disappointment with a past peer I did not allow that to change my perspective within my group. On the contrary the ones whom remained demonstrated that they had what it took to create our effective presentation. Not only did we deliver an outstanding  presentation but our actual slideshow itself I felt keep everyone engaged and motivated to want to know and learn more from every ounce of the information thrown at them.

One of the most important and most focused sections within the chapter I covered for our presentation was how to properly prepare for an interview and or speech. Fun fact, it was also my favorite section learning wise. You might be asking yourself, why out of all the elements mentioned and taught was she captivated by the preparation of a speech and not the executing of a speech. Let me explain why… Preparation to me in key to show case and execute your absolute best in anything you want to convey. Although I may not be the best at it, I feel as that is why it caught my attention, it gave me the opportunity to learn how to not only improve it; however, how to also feel confident demonstrating it in front of a crowd.

When learning on how to prepare for not only a speech; however, also for an interview there are many aspects that go into this. Such as, preparing early on your venture not last minute nor in the middle of the day. It has been scientifically proven that starting your day early and with a plan you are able to not only achieve more but also last longer within your day. In other words, you have a broader grace period to work with when wanting to prepare for your speech. Another important factor when preparing for a highly effective speech is to correctly determine the purpose behind your speech. Now I know you are asking yourself either why in this order and not backwards and let me teach you why. It is extremely important for you to choose your purpose behind a speech early in the process so that you give yourself enough time to adequately do the proper research on your desired topic. After choosing your purpose and or desired topic and conducting the proper research regarding that topic, it is crucial that you design a timeline and draft of how you are going to be communicating your feeling, questions, and thoughts to your audience. Lastly, it is suggested that you pre record before executing in order to tweak your mistakes.

While it is important to prepare and structure your speech before executing it another very important aspect of this is grasping all the information learned and corrected from your planning to now conduct an excellent speech and or interview. However; while conducting a speech the following factors are extremely important for you to consider and take advantage of: be polite and respectful, be cautious of your tone, be sure to be actively interacting with your audience maybe showcasing a particular expression and or reaction, giving the opportunity to those whom might want to add their input and or ask any questions relating the topic, and finally knowing exactly when to depart and finalize your speech. Knowing when to end your speech in the proper way is just as important as knowing how to start it. I never realized that until I was introduced and taught that from this course and book.

Public speaking does not only consist of preparation and conducting. It also includes how to after use your speech effectively to then after continue using it as a set example and manual on how to better compose of yourself in any type of public speaking you might encounter, whether it be an interview, training, seminars’, or you yourself educating others. The way in which I feel it is best to use your interview is by using the used supporting material and turn it into now new acquired knowledge and by also using the negative feedback to play in bettering your public speaking.

Finally, while all aspects mentioned within my blog are important and crucial no one is born automatically being the best or amazing at something none the less public speaking. I feel as the main reason why I have fallen in love with this course is that it has given me that sense of peace knowing that it is ok to not be great at something yet learn to better it and one day master it. Throughout this new venture and experience within this course everyone has made me feel safe and ok within my defects and mistakes. I can’t explain how much I have learned so early on this course and I am extremely excited to see what it has in store not only for me but all my peers.
